WhatsApp Business API in Malaysia — WhatsBox

The free WhatsApp Business app does not scale

No shared history, no way to assign a conversation, and nothing survives an employee leaving with their phone. The official API fixes all three.

Free app or API: which fits

Automated flows and AI replies

Pay only for the messages that matter

Meta bills directly to your own WhatsApp Business account, separately from any subscription, and charges per message delivered rather than per conversation. The rate depends on the category — marketing, utility or authentication — and on the country. Malaysian accounts are billed in ringgit.

Service messages — your replies inside the 24 hours after a customer writes to you — are free, so a business that mostly answers pays Meta very little. A business running outbound campaigns pays for each one delivered. One change worth planning for: from 1 October 2026 Meta begins charging for Utility templates sent inside that 24-hour window.

The things people ask before signing up

Do I need the WhatsApp Business API to use WhatsBox?
Yes. WhatsBox connects to the official WhatsApp Business API using your own Meta account, which is what makes a shared inbox, automation and broadcasts possible. The free WhatsApp Business app cannot do any of those things: there is no shared history, no way to assign a conversation, and nothing survives an employee leaving with their phone.
Are Meta's WhatsApp charges included in my plan?
No. Meta bills WhatsApp charges directly to your own WhatsApp Business account, separately from your WhatsBox subscription. Meta charges per message delivered, priced by category and country. Your replies inside the 24 hours after a customer writes to you are free.
Can I keep my existing WhatsApp number?
In most cases yes. A number currently on the free WhatsApp Business app can be migrated to the API, though it can only be active in one place at a time — once migrated, it works through WhatsBox rather than the phone app.
Can several staff use the same WhatsApp number?
Yes. That is the main reason to move off the free app. Your team share one number, each with their own login, and every conversation can be assigned to a specific person while the whole history stays visible to everyone who needs it.
Can customers actually order through WhatsApp?
Yes, when you connect WhatsMenu. Your catalogue and cart run inside the chat, orders arrive with items and delivery details attached, and status updates are sent back to the customer automatically.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Plans are month to month unless you choose annual billing, and there is no contract or cancellation fee.
